Book Design

The +SUBTRACT book philosophy is based around the beauty of minimal design. The marriage of content with aesthetics is the secret to a successful title and unlike many design agencies our focus is solely on books, magazines and catalogues, which can be delivered in both digital and print format. With over ten years of in-depth industry experience, we have a clear understanding of design that works across many pages to create a functional whole.

Working closely with clients, we cover all aspects of the design process from initial concept to delivery of print-ready files. We deliver print-ready proofs, send your book to print and colour and print manage on-press.

Publishing

+SUBTRACT commissions, packages and publishes titles on behalf of publishers and galleries, delivering printed books at trade volumes. Previous projects include the award-winning Book Art for Gestalten, New Fashion Photography for Prestel/Random House, and Isabella Blow for Thames & Hudson. We develop titles in close collaboration with our clients, managing editorial and design, placing projects with printers and then overseeing the final production on press. Our long-term relationships with international printers allow us to deliver the best results for the best prices and are the key to our production success.

Media interest in our packaged titles has included full-page features in The Sunday Times, Elle, The Independent and online coverage in WWD, Planet Notion and Elle for New Fashion Photography (2013); coverage in Vogue, i-D, The Telegraph and the Evening Standard amongst many others for Isabella Blow (2011), and praise in The Huffington Post, The Fox is Black, The Independent and others for Book Art (2012).

Each project can be supported on release by a press campaign. Get in touch via the contact page for more information on the prices and benefits of our full publishing process.
